Pie Filling: Apple - Frozen, 2 Pints



Make a pie, tart or cobbler.  Top your pancakes or yogurt.

Ingredients: Apple, Cinnamon, Sugar, nutmeg, Lemon Juice, Clear Jel


Allow filling to defrost in the fridge overnight
Directions: Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Bake pie crusts for 5-7 minutes or until slightly browned. Remove pie crusts from oven. Pour 1 quart jar into 2 nine inch pie shells. Add crumble or pie crust top. Bake at 400 degrees for 10 minutes, reduce temperature to 350 degrees and bake for 30-40 minutes or until crust is golden brown. 

Crumb Topping (for 2 pies)

  • In a bowl, mix 1 1/2 cups flour, 3/4 cup light-brown sugar, 1/3 cup granulated sugar, and 1/4 teaspoon each salt and cinnamon.
  • Cut 1 1/2 sticks chilled unsalted butter into pieces. With your hands, work in butter pieces, until large clumps form. Divide mixture in half; freeze in plastic storage bags.
  • sprinkle on top of your pie and bake until the filling is bubbling through.

You can also toast this topping on a baking sheet in a 350-degree oven for 15 minutes, and sprinkle over ice cream or fresh fruit.
